RENO - 2003 - FIRST JOINT SUBVETS NATIONAL CONVENTION
FIRST JOINT SUBVETS NATIONAL CONVENTION IN RENO NEVADA FROM SEPTEMBER 2ND TO SEPTEMBER 5TH OF 2003 WAS ENORMOUS SUCCESS.
Well the convention is history for one more year, the next one will be in Saratoga Springs New York in September of 2004. It is not too soon to start planning to go and making reservations. See the USSVI National Website for all the details as they become available.
The final tally on the Reno Convention, with over 3,000 registered attendees, netted Subvets WWII around 18,000 dollars and USSVI around 23,000 dollars. The exact figures will be available in a future issue of the American Submariner. The host base keeps 90% and sends 10% to National so the host base made over 20,000 dollars for their Base treasury. A lot of work goes into hosting a National Convention but the rewards are there as well.
